When people with psoriasis and neurodermatitis are planning a visit to a particular region because of its climate – generally this concerns vacation plans – they must always take account of three factors in selecting the destination for their trip. It should be sunny. It should be as near to the sea or the ocean as possible. It should be warm, but not hot. These three points for the climatic resort already include everything that is necessary for finding the most favorable conditions for improving the course of the disease. Sunshine (in moderation!) is required for the chemical processes that lead to a reduction in the activities in the skin. The ocean is helpful because of its salt content, for through this the uppermost layer of skin is loosened (it absorbs moisture) and the parts that are detached can peel off; the skin loses its scales.
