Treatment of Psoriasis with Fumaric Acid Medications
All of the known, so-called conventional, treatment methods of orthodox medicine of psoriasis are methods that act at various depths in the skin. They can be summarized under the heading “Suppression Therapy,” that is, the ability of the skin to react is suppressed and the skin is forced to rest. This cannot be a good method, as the damage that may occur is often irreversible. In contrast to this, the treatment of psoriasis with fumaric acid medications (known as fumaric acid therapy) takes a curative or “restorative” approach. Psoriasis is regarded as a metabolic disorder in which disturbances in the system occur and to which the skin must react with disease. Treatment of Neurodermatitis with Fumaric Acid Medications
All of those who suffer from neurodermatitis can relate endless stories about the numerous treatment methods that they have already tried out. First and foremost there was cortisone for the skin, in the form of creams, salves and lotions and also taken inwardly, in the form of medicines. There were all manner of bath products. Then there were the periods spent in hospital, visits to health resorts, and above all, there were the many experiments with nutrition and diet. In our view, psoriasis and neurodermatitis are diseases that are very closely related. The metabolic disorder which is at the root of the two illnesses, psoriasis and neurodermatitis, is the same. Therefore, the treatment with fumaric acid medications is also successful with neurodermatitis. The only difference is that, in contrast to psoriasis, neurodermatitis has additional allergic components “grafted onto” the symptoms.
